Buma Cultuur

Oh dear, how time flies… It seems only yesterday that we celebrated 20 years of house music during the ADE 2008. And what a celebration it was, with over 700 artists and a festival audience of 90.000 people who are into stuff like minimal, deep house, trance, dubstep, clubhouse, breakcore, booty, techno, tekno, progressive, hiphop, and drum ‘n bass, and who like to mix things up in their ‘own particular idiom’, to quote John Cleese.
Anyway, rrrrrrewiiind! The date is set for the 2009 edition, so we will meet again on 21, 22, 23, and 24 October. Behind the scenes, everyone at Buma Cultuur (the foundation dedicated to the promotion and support of Dutch music copyright, and initiator of the ADE) is already operating at full steam to top last year’s edition in 2009.
The first names have now been confirmed. Brace yourself, here comes a whiz-bang!
For the 2009 edition, we have added a new feature to our online platform: the Amsterdam Dance Event weblog. This is where you will find all about the event, the city and beyond.
Which cool stores have just opened? Where is the best afterparty (sssssh…)? Is there a place left where you can find vinyl for sale? How do you say: ‘I was supposed to be on the list in Dutch’? What is bubbling deep underground? We will leave no stone unturned to provide you with the most up to date info about what’s up in The Dam...
So please check in with us regularly to be fully prepared for the ADE 2009!

We’re typing this with sweaty palms on a hot summer day at the office, but it’s not just the sun that makes the temperature rise, we also hit fever pitch over the first names we can confirm for ADE 2009!
Armin van Buuren, Laurent Garnier, Boys Noize, Freemasons, and Richie Hawtin will be there amongst many, many others. And this is just the tip of the iceberg, a teaser if you will. The ADE is known as one of the major showcase festivals in the world, and accommodates both party animals and industry people - who don’t mind a shake and a shimmy every once and a while either. Over 700 artists are expected, and they will do their thing on 40 different stages over the city. Without further ado, we present you the first batch of amazing artists:
